Mix it up on Spaghetti Night! Try this Creamy Spaghetti Recipe

November 13, 2014 by Nicole

We eat spaghetti pretty often at my house, and it’s always the same old, same old. Even though we really like the same old, same old spaghetti, something different is always good for a change. Especially when it is as easy as adding one ingredient to a basic spaghetti with ground beef recipe. You won’t believe how easy it is to totally change up your spaghetti with a little cream cheese! I know what you are thinking: Cream cheese in spaghetti sauce? Could that be good? Only one way to find out. (Spoiler alert: It’s good!)

This go-to pasta dinner can be on the table in 30 minutes or less. Serve up a creamy spaghetti with a side of green salad and breadsticks.

Adding cream cheese to the spaghetti sauce changed it entirely, turning it into a creamy tomato sauce. I like when my dinner experiments have happy endings, and this one did. Allow me to introduce you to the Creamy Spaghetti Recipe. It’s a quick and easy pasta dinner, ready in less than 30 minutes. I sprinkled the top of our spaghetti with fresh green parsley.

Stir in spaghetti sauce and cream cheese cubes. Cook on low heat 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Be sure the cream cheese cubes are completely melted and blended in with the sauce.

Add spaghetti noodles to the sauce. Mix to combine. Optional: Top with fresh parsley, chopped. Serve.

What are your go-to pasta dishes? Do you have Spaghetti Night at your house? Let me know what you think of creamy spaghetti.

I would have never thought to add cream cheese to my sauce, but it makes sense, and we love our cheeses in this house. Thanks!

I love cream cheese. I dip pretzel sticks in it, put it in chocolate chip cookies instead of eggs, and eat way too much of it slathered on toast or bagels. I’ve even used it as a base for Alfredo sauce. I am the world’s biggest fan of Million Dollar Spaghetti (Look it up on Pinterest. Fattening, but fabulous.). Why I have never thought to add cream cheese to the spaghetti sauce itself is beyond me. This seems easy. Like, stupid easy. And as a full-time working single mom, I appreciate that. I will for sure be giving it a try next week!

Hi Anna, I LOVE Million Dollar Spaghetti – my mom used to make it all the time because everyone would eat it, and it’s good leftover. I felt exactly the same way as you about adding cream cheese to the sauce (so easy, WHY have I never done this before??). I hope your family likes it, too. Thank you for stopping by. Have a great weekend — Nicole
PS I have never heard of using cream cheese instead of eggs – going to have to Google that idea! Sounds yummy. Thanks for the tip.
