Duck® Brand’s Shelf Liner in the Kitchen, Bath and Laundry Room

July 3, 2014 by Nicole

This post brought to you by Duck Brand. All opinions are 100% mine.

Truthfully, the main reason I line my shelves and drawers is because my mother tells me to. She is a firm believer in lining shelves and the insides of drawers. Every time I move into a new house, she calls to remind me at least twice but usually three times to “Be sure to line your kitchen shelves and all your drawers before you start unpacking anything.”

Don’t tell my mom, but I took the liner out of a few of my kitchen drawers and forgot to replace them (months ago). Luckily, I saw the chance to try new Duck Brand’s Shelf Liner and took it. I have learned that lining shelves and drawers is a great way to protect them from scratches, spills, leaks, and crumbs. Liners make it a lot easier to wipe them clean, too.

I got a roll of Duck® Brand Smooth Top Easy Liner and Select Easy Liner. These non-adhesive shelf liners come in many attractive solid colors and patterns. (Duck® Brand also makes adhesive shelf liners, but I have not tried those.)

I really like the smooth-topped liners because they are easiest to wipe clean. I would like to use this to line my pantry shelves since the smooth top doesn’t allow crumbs or residue to drip through. They also have a grippy underside so they won’t slip around.

The Select Easy Liner has a grippy top and bottom and is machine washable. It’s also cushiony. This would work great as a liner for cabinets where dishes and glasses are stored.

Duck® Brand’s Shelf Liner is very easy to install. All you have to do is cut it to fit the shelf or drawer. I was able to cut in straight lines by following the lines in the pattern.

Two rolls of the shelf liner allowed me to complete 3 projects: Three large drawers in the kitchen, one bathroom drawer and the tops of my washer and dryer.

Adding a liner to my kitchen utensil drawers gave me a good excuse to organize the drawer contents before putting them back in. They were a mess before:

Much nicer looking with the patterned liner After:

I use the tops of my washer and dryer as shelves for laundry detergent, and need the Duck® Brand shelf liner to protect the top of my machines from dust, lint, and laundry detergent spills. The solid white blends well with my white appliances.

Lining bathroom drawers is a must, especially in the kids’ bathroom. Somehow their toothpaste never gets quite closed, and it leaks out into the drawer, and hardens into concrete. The shelf liner protects the wooden drawer and makes it easier for me to keep clean.

There are many other ways to use Duck® Brand’s shelf liner around the house. I love how someone even created custom placemats with it. Check out Duck® Brand’s Pinterest boards and connect with them on Facebook for tons of inspiration and creative project ideas.
