Seventh Generation’s Toxin Freedom Fighters Petition

April 2, 2014 by Nicole 1 Comment

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Seventh Generation. I received a promotional item and product samples as a thank you for participating.

Become a Toxin Freedom Fighter!

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) was passed in 1976. And nearly 40 years later, this major environmental law has NEVER been updated…not even once! As it currently stands, tens of thousands of potentially harmful chemicals continue to be used in the marketplace without proper testing and without disclosure by the companies that produce them.

More than 80,000 synthetic chemicals have been introduced into the market since the Toxic Substances Control Act was passed in 1976, the EPA has required testing on less than 10%. As a parent and reasonable human being living on this planet, I find this lack of testing totally unacceptable. We need to be informed of risks and dangers that chemicals pose to ourselves and the environment.

Toxic Chemicals are Dangerous!

Scary but True Fact:

Scientists have linked exposure to toxic chemicals to many health risks, such as Cancer, Alzheimer’s, learning disabilities, asthma, birth defects, and various reproductive problems.

WHAT CAN WE DO?

It is time to address chemical reform. Join me as I become one of Seventh Generation’s Freedom Fighters by signing Seventh Generation’s petition to urge Congress to reevaluate the Toxic Substances Control Act for the first time since 1976. Become a Toxin Freedom Fighter Today when you click on the badge to sign the petition.

Seventh Generation would like to collect 100,000 signatures by April 24, 2014 to present to Congress on April 30, 2014. Our signatures will help strengthen the movement behind chemical reform and encourage law makers to change necessary laws.

I try to reduce my family’s exposure to dangerous chemicals and toxins by choosing green household cleaners, using glass and natural fibers instead of plastics when possible, and buying local and organic produce. If you follow my blog, you know that I even make a lot of DIY household cleaners and try to grow a garden every year.

What everyday things do you to to help your family live a greener, ecofriendly lifestyle? Will you take a moment out of your day to sign Seventh Generation’s petition?

I never realized how many toxins we are exposed to and 300 before birth is ridiculous.
