Hot dogs are the perfect picnic food because 1) everyone in my family will eat them and 2) they are fully cooked before they are packaged, so whoever is doing the grilling doesn’t have to worry if the hot dogs are “done” or not.
Anytime we have a summer barbeque with family and friends, we make sure to have hotdogs for the grill. The kids love it when we take a little bit of extra prep time and make Spider Dogs! It’s a fun, easy way to serve hot dogs on a stick.
Kids love this Spider Dogs Recipe!
Turn your hotdogs into Spider Dogs! Here’s how to do it:
What You’ll Need:
- 1 Package hotdogs
- 1 skewer for each hotdog
Directions:
- Preheat the grill.
- Stick a skewer halfway through each beef frank lengthwise.
- Carefully cut the free half into quarters, lengthwise.
- Lay the sliced ends of the hot dogs on the grill. The slices will curl back away from each other as they cook. When the sliced end is cooked and curled, carefully remove the dogs from their skewers, skewer through the cooked end and slice uncooked half into quarters lengthwise. Lay the uncooked ends of the dogs on the grill and cook until they are also curled back and you have a spider dog!
