Peggy Kotsopoulos’ Frozen Banana Pops with Toppings Bar
Yield: 8 Frozen Banana Pops
Ingredients:
4 bananas
2 really ripe avocados
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/2 cup maple syrup
Optional Toppings:
Crushed nuts of your choice
Unsweetened coconut flakes
Granola
Chocolate chips
Sprinkles
For frozen bananas:
Cut bananas in half and insert popsicle sticks into the flat end. Line on parchment covered baking sheet and freeze.
For chocolate avo pudding:
Cut avocado in half and remove the seed. Scoop out the inside of the avocado into a food processor. Add the maple syrup and cocoa and continue to blend together until it’s all smooth.
Take frozen banana pop and roll in chocolate pudding, then roll in any or all of the toppings, if you like.
Tips:
- The chocolate-avo pudding can be served on its own for dessert or snack.
- Instead of chocolate pudding, you can also roll in strawberry flavored apple sauce then shredded coconut, OR almond butter then roll in finely minced dried fruit.

Ahhh what a healthy twist to the usual cake pops! I think this recipe would definitely make me enjoy eating bananas more often if I was eating frozen choco-avocado covered bananas with sprinkled coconut! I know kids would enjoy these colorful treats, especially if a variety of different toppings were offered.

I really like the Kid Friendly recipe for Banana pops. Looks so delicious and fun to make. I would like to make these with my niece. She is coming over next week, and I am going to get the ingredients to make these. I already have the avocados and cocoa powder!
