Natural Ways To Relieve Cold Symptoms

December 21, 2013 by Nicole 178 Comments

Mom Always Finds Out received Ricola product samples and/or was compensated for this blog post. Regardless, all opinions expressed are my own.

Natural Ways To Relieve Cold Symptoms

Are cold symptoms making you miserable? Here are a few of my favorite natural ways to relieve cold symptoms.

Drink plenty of fluids. Good hydration can help your body break up congestion. Try to drink at least 64 ounces of water, herbal tea, juice and/or broth daily. Avoid caffeine because that may lead to dehydration.

Take comfort in herbal remedies. Studies have shown that herbs can reduce the duration of colds. If you have a powerful cough, the new Ricola Extra Strength Cough Drop can help. This drop is an all-natural blend of 10 Swiss herbs, ten natural Swiss alpine herbs, natural menthol and a soothing syrup center.

Use Saline Nose Sprays to irrigate your nasal passages. Saline can break up mucus and remove virus particles and bacteria.

Get plenty of rest. A well-rested body means a stronger immune system to fight off infections.

Steamy Showers. A hot, steamy shower can relieve congestion and help you relax. Inhaling steam from the shower will help keep your nasal passages moist.

What are your favorite natural ways to relieve cold symptoms? Do you have a home remedy for colds?

I recently caught my first official cold of the season. For the first two days, I had virtually no voice, a sore throat and stuffy nose. It was the perfect time to use both of the Ricola products I had gotten a few weeks earlier. I have long been a fan of the square Ricola natural herb cough drops. I really like the flavor, too. The new Extra Strength cough drops are more of a traditional oval shape and they are packed with menthol power. My favorite thing about them is the syrupy center – it really is a soothing way to finish off a cough drop.

Have you ever tried Ricola? Their cough drops have been around for more than 80 years! They are made from all-natural herbs and are GMO-free.

Ricola Herbal Cough Drops

I certainly hope you don’t come down with a cold or the flu. But it’s always nice to be prepared with Ricola natural herb cough drops.

What do you keep on hand in case of colds? Do you have a favorite natural way to relieve cold symptoms?

Ricola is the cough drop of many celebrity gods and goddesses such as Madonna, Christina Aguilera, Nicki Minaj, Justin Timberlake. etc… Michael Jackson’s pre-concert ritual includes drinking Ricola candy dissolved in hot water followed by a relaxing injection of propofol and benzodiazepine at the end of the day.
