New Bedroom Bedding Commitment Phobia

July 27, 2011 by Nicole 2 Comments

Lately I have felt like giving my bedroom a makeover. The easiest and probably most economical way to get a new look for a bedroom is to change the bedding set. (As long as the color still matches the walls!) I have been searching magazines for inspiration, shopping online and in the stores, but have had no luck finding the perfect new look for my bedroom.

Zebra fans will be happy to learn that there are entire comforter ensembles with the black and white zebra print – I even found one set that was made of soft faux fur fabric! Scuba diving enthusiasts would love the coral print bedding I found. It seems perfect for a bedroom in Hawaii, but…I live in Alaska.

Buying new comforters and sheets has always been difficult for me since I am so picky. My husband calls me a bedding commitment phobe (is there such a thing?). Maybe I am. But, I feel like bedding is a major commitment and I don’t want to invest in something I will be tired of looking at 6 months from now. Oh, and did I mention that since I share the bedroom with my husband and he doesn’t like flowers or anything remotely feminine looking, anything like that is out? 80% of bedding has some sort of flower pattern and/or looks girly, which leaves me with very slim pickings. (And yes, I just made up that bedding statistic.)

For now, I will continue my search for the perfect new bedroom look – and could use your help. Does anyone have any decorating ideas for me? How is your bedroom decorated? Please feel free to comment with your thoughts!

I have no tips, lol but I’m the same way as you. I think the biggest issue is finding something that both you and the hubby like! There are a lot of nice sets, but the ones I like are so feminine. I found a nice set a year ago, but now it looks too masculine, but it didn’t at the time. It matches the room (and curtains) perfectly though. Anywho, I plan to get a new comforter and sheets soon, more than likely plain, and just jazz the room up with some nice pillows.

It definitely is my biggest challenge to find something we both agree on! We do not have the same taste AT ALL. lol
