Lost your keys (again)? You need a Nokia Treasure Tag

May 29, 2014 by Nicole

I have lost my keys so many times I can’t even begin to count. I lose things so often that it doesn’t even phase me when I dig through the garbage can looking for them. That’s just a necessary evil part of looking for my keys.

But it doesn’t have to be like that anymore. I just tagged my keys with a Nokia Treasure Tag. Now I don’t need to search through the garbage unless the Treasure Tag says that is where I’ll find them.

I received a Nokia Treasure Tag as part of an amazing group of #VZWBuzz Insiders, but I was under no obligation to review it. All opinions expressed are my own and based on personal experiences with the product.

This amazing little gadget slips onto my keychain. If I happen to misplace my keys, I can use the Treasure Tag app to locate them on a map. Once I get close, I can use my smartphone with the app to set off an audible beeping sound (“Play Sensor”) to guide me to them.

*Note: Your smartphone’s (or tablet’s)  NFC or Bluetooth and GPS features need to be turned ON for the Treasure Tag to work.

Treasure Tags aren’t just for keys. You can tag just about anything you want to keep track of like purses, backpacks, bikes, even a parked car. The Treasure Tag app notifies you when you are about to leave something behind. And if you do get separated from your item, the app will locate it on a map. If the item is out of range, its last known location will be pinned on the map.

I experimented with the Treasure Tag app’s mapping feature by leaving my keys on the sidewalk and walking a few hundred feet out of range from them. Then, I used my smartphone and Treasure Tag app to find their last known location on a map.

The map got my keys’ location right within about 25 feet of where I left them. At the very least, it’s a good starting point for a search.

You can connect up to four Treasure Tags per device. A Treasure Tag runs off of a watch battery that needs to be replaced about every six months.

Do you lose things from time to time? Could a Treasure Tag help you keep track of your keys and other valuable items?

Nokia Treasure Tags are available at Verizon Wireless (colors Yellow, Black, and White: $29.99) and are compatible with a variety of devices including the Nokia Icon, Samsung Galaxy S5, iPad, HTC One and Droid Mini.

The Nokia Treasure Tag is a cool gift to give to someone! My husband needs this for sure, since he loses his keys all the time! Great idea.
