I love being a mom to my four young boys, but lately I have noticed that I haven’t been taking any of the much-needed “me” time to exercise. It’s hard to find the time (and energy) to work out after a full day of dealing with a baby, a toddler, a preschooler and an 8-year-old. At least that has been my excuse. I know exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle and that healthy moms are important to their families, which is why I chose to join the Quaker Heart Health Challenge.
My goal for this challenge is to exercise 15 times in 30 days. Since I don’t belong to a gym, I have to think of physical activities that I can do at home. Right now, it’s winter time and I enjoy cross-country skiing. My plan is to take a quick ski trip around my neighborhood every other day for the next month. I may mix things up a little bit by playing my Wii Zumba game on days I am unable to get outside on my skis.
I think I will be more likely to succeed at my fitness goal if set a specific time of day that I can exercise and make sure that my husband is free to watch the kids while I take some “me” time.
Joining the Quaker Heart Health Challenge is a great step towards becoming a healthier mom. A healthy me is a happy me – and at my house, everyone’s happier when mom is happy.
What about you? I’d love for you to let me know what motivates you to be healthy.
