WIN!
Before you head to Amazon.com to pre-order your copy and learn how to cut the calories, here’s your chance to win a pristine signed copy direct from Rocco himself! Rocco has hooked me up with 2 signed copies of Now Eat This! 100 Quick Calorie Cuts At Home/On The Go to give away to my readers!!
How To Enter To Win:
Comment on this post and answer one of the following questions:
“How do you cut out the extra calories on a daily basis?” or “What dishes do you serve for dinner that you feel you should sacrifice for the health of your family?”
For example, my family will bring home a pizza when I am too lazy busy to cook dinner. I am sure the greasy puddles of pepperoni and cheese are not good for us and it would be so much better for us to eat a homemade meal.

I dont deprive mself, but i maintain a healthy weight by in theory, eating better than I would if i didnt order the burger without mayo and cheese pile on the veggies and choose a baked potato instead of fries. i have a few littlle tricks…

I try to cut calories by making my own sauces and salad dressings, that way I know what goes into them and can adjust accordingly. I also try to incorporate as many fresh veggies as possible into our meals.

When 3 topping pizza is on half price, my family falls off the healthy food wagon. We shouldn’t, but we do on occasion. We do not get any of the high cal sides that they offer, and I pile on the salads and fresh veggies to even out the meal.

In January I quit using sugar in my coffee (I drink a 12 cup pot a day so it is siginificant) and started using a packet of splenda a cup. I haven’t seen tremendous weight loss, but I know I am using less calories

I try to watch portions and even eat out of my kids bowls (like cereal in the morning – I’m more aware of the serving size on my granola being 2/3 cup!) Also no sugary drinks – ever.

I could definitely not serve so much rice and beans but when you have a dh who was raised on his mama’s and grandma’s Mexican cooking, it’s kind of hard to stop because he wants them no matter how much fat they have in them! LOL

I use whole wheat pasta to try and make pasta dishes a little healthier, and I rarely use butter (unless, of course, I am making a delicious dessert where I am sacrificing all healthiness!).
