Mealtime Fun with Kids, Ore-Ida Fries and Homemade Dipping Sauces

October 14, 2014 by Nicole

My younger kids love to play pretend games. One of their latest favorites is to play “restaurant” where I am their server (I don’t have to pretend too hard – this is my everyday job). They think it is hilarious when I seat them at the dinner table and ask to take their order.

Today’s pretend restaurant menu includes Ore-Ida® Waffle Fries. The waffle cut fries look just like the ones a real restaurant serves.

Kids love to eat French fries. Or at least mine do! I like to bake Ore-Ida® fries in the oven. They always come out delicious and crispy, just the way we like them. And Ore-Ida® French Fries make the perfect appetizer to serve at our pretend restaurant.

We don’t just love to eat fries, we love to dip fries in homemade dipping sauces. Our top 3 kid-friendly dipping sauces are ketchup, honey mustard and Ranch dressing.

Ore-Ida® French Fries are easy for me to pair with just about any kind of meal. Serve fries with a variety of dipping sauces for mealtime fun with kids. Fries and ketchup are always a perfect match. But, if you’re looking to try something different, make your own honey mustard dipping sauce. My kids love it!

Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce with Ore-Ida® Waffle Fries

  • 1 bag Ore-Ida Waffle Fries
  • Salt
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 3 T. honey
  • 2 T. regular yellow mustard
  • 1 T. Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 T. lemon juice

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place Ore-Ida® Waffle Fries in a single layer on a baking sheet (as directed on package). Bake as directed (20-26 minutes until done). Remove fries from oven and add salt if desired to taste.

2. In the meantime, stir mayo, mustards, honey and lemon juice in a bowl until completely blended. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

3. Serve fries with honey mustard dipping sauce on the side.

I like to keep Ore-Ida® fries on hand in my freezer so I can pull out a bag and bake up a batch anytime I need quick snacks, appetizers and side dishes. I like knowing that Ore-Ida® potatoes are grown right here in the USA. Ore-Ida® uses only the best potatoes so fries come out perfectly crisp and tasty every time.

Ore-Ida® uses only 100% fresh, American grown potatoes for their French Fries and Tater Tots. It’s quality you can feel good about, and the convenience you need in your busy life. Visit http://www.oreida.com for more great recipe ideas and to learn more!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Ore-Ida. The opinions and text are all mine.

The homemade dipping sauce looks delicious! I don’t like any of the store bought honey mustard sauces, so I’d love to try and make my own.

Yum! I am definitely going to have to give these sauces a try! We love their fries, but always dip in ketchup. Time to try something new!
