New Year’s Eve was a cold one in Anchorage, Alaska this year. The temperatures hovered around zero degrees – perfect weather for enjoying the ice train we found sitting in the town square plaza. An ice carving team came all the way from China to create a Disney-themed children’s ice park. It was pretty amazing watching them transform thousands of pounds of ice blocks into fantastic sculptures.
It was extremely cold outside – we weren’t able to stay out very long. But we had a fun time with the ice versions of our favorite Disney characters like Lightning McQueen, Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. There was even a version of the tea cup ride – you could actually sit and spin in the carved out ice!

That is so neat. I used to live in Anchorage and I remember how crazy I thought people were for getting on rides at Fur Rondy every year!

Oh yeah, we do that every year too. haha! It is pretty crazy if you think about it. We are ready to Rondy next month!

Love it! I really want to see the sculptures, but no one wants to go with me. Then again, sub-zero temps have me hesitant to go.

I want to go back now that there are even more sculptures out there – it’s worth it! It was SO cold when we there there, but the up side was that no other kids were around so we didn’t have to wait in line to get on any of the stuff. haha!
