Tips to help keep your kids excited about learning:
Ask lots of questions. Encourage your kids to participate in conversations by asking them questions like: “Why do you think that happened? What will happen next?”
Encourage kids to search for answers. When your children ask you “why?” see if you can work together to figure out what they need to know or do to find the answer.
Try something new. Summer is a great time to try new things like reading a new kind of book, tasting a new food or exploring a new park.
Just have fun. Summertime comes along only once a year, so make sure to have fun while you’re learning.

Families can get started on the summer fun now by visiting the PBS KIDS for Parents summer hub, which will be regularly updated with new content throughout the coming months, including:
- A printable summer checklist to encourage kids to explore new things and a list of unique summer activities to try
- Recommended apps for summer learning (and road trip distraction!)
- A PBS KIDS activity book, filled with fun prompts and games to keep kids engaged
- A summer reading guide
Curated game collections can also be found on pbskids.org, the PBS KIDS Video app, and the PBS KIDS YouTube channel all summer long. Come June and July, new shorts and episodes of everyone’s favorite series will also be gracing the screen.
