My family loves the outdoors, especially in the summer. There are so many things to do and places to explore.
Unfortunately, is it easy for my kids to get sucked into spending hours playing video games or watching TV. That’s why I like to plan at least one activity per day that gets us all moving together.
I love it when my kids end up begging to stay outside playing – even after the sun goes down. It is important to encourage our children’s healthy habits like active play.
Sneak in Active Time at Home and on Vacation.
We visit a lot of local attractions like parks and recreational areas. You may be surprised at how many fun activities there are to do right in your own backyard.
Check your city and state’s website for local events and fun things to do with your family.
If you are going on a vacation, try to sneak in at least one family adventure activity. When I say “adventure,” I don’t mean everyone has to go skydiving. Your family’s adventure can be something as tame as hiking a trail.
Or, for a more get-your-heart-racing adventure activity, you can go whitewater rafting. The level of adventure is up to you and your family’s ability level.

This list is awesome! I bet we can do a ton of them – even with a toddler and a newborn 🙂

I love this! We always have a ton of ideas, but we get busy and don’t do them. This is the perfect way to keep family time in the forefront of our minds!

I’m a list maker. I always say, “If it’s not on the list it isn’t going to happen”. That includes the market list. Ha! I am over the moon for your summer bucket list. It will make for a fun and memorable summer.

Thanks, Cathi! Summer flies by so fast that if we don’t make a list, the things we really want to do may not happen. I hope that you and your family have a super fun summer and that all your bucket list items come true. 🙂

We definitely love getting outside each day. We live on a big farm so I can always think of tasks and chores that get them out and playing outside. Recently we have been throwing loose change in our side pasture for the kids to explore with their metal detectors. But usually getting them to play outside is not hard!
Nicole says
Hi Andrea, A metal detector sounds like a lot of fun for kids to play. That’s a very original idea. I am sure the farm keeps everyone busy, I bet there is always a lot to do. I hope you and the kids have a wonderful summer! -Nicole

This is so perfect for me. I have all kinds of things I want to do during the summer months, but I never seem to get around to it.
Nicole says
Thanks, Jennifer! I love to have a list around so we never have to wonder “What should we do today?” and also so we make sure that the things we really want to happen, actually happen! Have a great summer! –Nicole
