Potato salad is a staple at summer barbeques and picnics. The funny thing about potato salads is that there are so many variations on this popular side dish you could go a whole summer without eating the same version twice.
My Foodie Collection Perfectly Potato Salads includes everything from simple potato salad recipes to made-with-anchovies potato salads and everything in between. Take a look and let me know if you see a recipe for potato salad that you want to try.
Many families even pass secret potato salad recipes down through generations. I collected many different potato salad recipes for my Foodie Collection. Along the way, I came across lots of weird questions people were asking about potato salad.

Weird or not, these are genuine questions from people who really want to know the answer. I gave them my answers below – but I could be wrong. How would you answer the following questions about potato salad?
Q: Can you freeze potato salad?
A. Yes, you can freeze it, but it will be too gross and soggy to eat when it thaws out.
Q. Can you eat potato salad when pregnant?
A. Potato salad would have made me gag when I was pregnant, but if you have a craving…go for it! Just make sure it has been properly handled so there’s no risk of bacteria. Potato salad can be a risky food for anyone, especially a pregnant woman.
Q. Can dogs eat potato salad?
I guess so. But I don’t like for my dogs to eat “people food” because it really messes up their digestive system.
Q. Does anyone know how to make potato salad with Cool Whip in it?
A. I have never even heard of anyone putting Cool Whip in a potato salad.
Q. How can you tell when potato salad has gone bad?
A. The fact that you are even asking the question makes me think you should throw it out. Obvious signs would be mold growth and/or it having a bad smell.
Q. Does a fizzy potato salad mean it’s spoiled?
A. Ew. Fizzy potato salad is most definitely spoiled and likely radioactive.
Q. If 7 people each eat 3/8 pound of potato salad, how much potato salad will be eaten in all?
A. Can I borrow a calculator?

I love potato salads, and I’d like to try the 4th Of July Egg And Potato Salad in the collection! I haven’t brought a potato salad to a get together, mostly because it would be a hassle to keep it cool while traveling, etc. When there is a great sale on potatoes, the first thing that comes to mind is yum – potato salad!!! of many kind – I like adding tuna sometimes – it’s a great variation!

I love the good old basic potato salad with eggs, celery, mustard, mayonaise and sweet relish or dill pickles. Celery seed is great too and black olives added.

A few of those questions are pretty far out there! We are one of those families that have passed their potato salad recipe down over the years.
