Rainbow Candy in a Jar

February 27, 2025 by Nicole

Rainbow candy in a jar is fun for St. Patrick’s Day crafts, National Find a Rainbow Day (April 3), and anytime you want to share rainbow foods and treats.

I love Rainbow in a Jar mason jar craft ideas, so I just had to create my own version. These are so easy to make and a fun way to brighten anyone’s day. My kids’ favorite part is getting to the “gold” candy (Rolos) at the end of the rainbow. They don’t mind eating through the colorful Skittles rainbow layers one bit.

How To Make a Rainbow in a Jar

Materials Needed:

  • Mason Jar with Lid (Any size jar will work, however, the bigger the jar, the more candy you need to fill it.)
  • Skittles candy
  • Rolo Candy (buy the bag of individually wrapped Rolos)
  • optional: Ribbon and Gift Tag

Directions:

Step 1: For the Gold: Add a layer of Rolo candies to the jar.

Step 2: For the Rainbow: Separate Skittles by color. Add layers of Skittles to the jar in this order: Purple, Green, Yellow, Orange, Red.

Step 3: Attach the lid. Optional: Tie a gift tag to the jar with ribbon. *Note: I used Avery Scallop Round Labels (2.5 inch diameter, #80503) and customized a free easy-to-use template at Avery Design and Print.

I didn’t know that April 3rd was National Find a Rainbow day – it’s my daughter’s birthday. I will have to remember that. I love how you added the Rolos to the bottom – very clever. Thanks for sharing. #HomeMattersParty
