I don’t mind, I only have my 11 yr old daughter to worry about and she wants to go to the lake, the beach, and stay around the house this year so we will probably look for fun free things to do in our community.

Since we have no young ‘uns at home – it won’t effect us directly – but my Honey/hubby will still be complaining that as soon as the schools’ out bells start ringing their will be lots of noise, bikes, fun and games on the block and crowds in the parks and at the beach…

But then I’ll reming him how much fun we had in Summer as kids – and how great it is and we’ll feel a little better about it all!

Keeping the kids busy can be a problem. Usually kid friendly movies and some games that keep them thinking. This works well with them.

I am looking forward to it in some ways but yet there will be times after a couple weeks, my grandson will be bored. I care for him when his momma is at work and we go to the parks often in the mornings because it gets too hot in the afternoon. Seems all kids are bored after being home a couple weeks. But I am happy that he is thrilled to be out and that he gets to sleep in until he wants to. I’m sure now that school is out for him Thursday, he will be awake at 5 or 6 am. Always how it goes.

Since I actually teach higher education at a massage school, Summer vacation is only 1 week long for me before our next new group of students begins. This year I am teaching a continuing education class that week, so truthdfully, I’m looking forward to Christmas vacation this year when hopefully we will all get to go on our yearly vacation.

When school’s out and my granddaugher come’s for the summer I have her make a list of things she wants to learn or do. Last year we went to th pool, made a fancy cake with fondant, learned to use chop sticks, learned to knit, got a mani/pedi, and made a special gift for dad.

always torn – kids are used to doing something everyday so hard to fill the time. I’m doing basketball, few special days of camp and some swim lessons.

I don’t have any little ones in school. This would be for my best friend who teaches third grade. Teachers can be so under appreciated. But my little grand-niece loves to do projects. I used to have a “I read a book” jar for my son. He would put the name of each book he read over the summer in a jar, with how many days it took, and I would give him some money for each one he read! He and I loved it!
