Remember the story about the Little Red Hen? She planted and harvested her own grain, then had to take it all the way to the miller so he could grind it into flour before she could bake her delicious bread and feed her friends. If only the Little Red Hen had known about the Nutrimill grain grinder, she could have ground her own flour in the convenience of her own home.
I think about that story almost every time I use my Nutrimill grain grinder. I have only owned it a couple of months, but use it at least once a week when I do my bread baking. It has changed the way I look at store bought flour forever. No more enriched, processed flours for me.
Thanks to the Nutrimill, I can buy organic whole grains in bulk (this saves money) and grind them in just a few minutes at home as I need them for baking. So far, my favorite homemade flour mixture includes white wheat, spelt and kamut. It is so fun to try new grains. The possibilities are endless!
The Nutrimill is so easy to use. Just fill the top hopper with grain, turn the machine on, and minutes later, you have flour in the bottom compartment. I love mine, and I know that Little Red Hen would have loved it too!

Brea, I have only been baking my own bread since I got my Nutrimill, BUT I have not had to adjust any recipes except if you count using a little more or a little less flour than the recipe states, since sometimes I need to add more or less depending on the dough’s texture. Other than that, I follow the recipes pretty exactly since I am a beginning bread baker and not confident enough in my skills to tweak recipes. 🙂
The Nutrimill grinder is SO easy to use. I researched a lot online and with several people I knew who used different grain mills. Everyone who owned a Nutrimill absolutely loved theirs, so I decided on that one. I am so happy with it. Grinding your own flour is really simple to do if you have the right machine. Let me know if you have any more questions about it! I’m happy to help. Thanks for your comment!

Hello! New follower here, and SO interested in your Nutrimill! I love to bake, but am not terribly fond of store-bought flour. Do you have to adjust the recipes at all?

Nicole, I was so excited to find out you grew up in Dothan. Small world!
I would love to have the bread recipe you use. I made Amish Friendship Bread during the Fall and we really enjoyed it. I have never ground my own flour though! I am impressed! I’m sure The Little Red Hen would be too. My dad use to tell this story over and over again to me when I was little..one of my favorites!

Hi Vicki, and I found out this morning you and I share a good friend, Alyssa! I love and miss that girl, she is such a sweet friend. I will post my latest and greatest bread recipe I recently found and really like. Probably in the next day or so.
