We welcomed our sweet baby boy on May 26 and I have been the most surprised by how well my 19-month-old has accepted his promotion to Big Brother status. He LOVES the baby and wants to hold him all the time.
I think I’m going to have to do something I have never done before: Buy my son a baby doll! I think he would love taking care of his own baby. Does anyone have any suggestions for a little play doll for him? (I have zero doll experience!) Have any of you had little boys want to play with baby dolls before? I’d love to hear your comments!

Before my second son was born, we borrowed a doll from my sister… life-size doll that my oldest just loved. He slept with the doll at night and carried it around. My husband didn’t flip out at all (thankfully), and I felt it was great for teaching him how to be gentle with a baby. I say go for it, and hopefully you will have more peace of mind if he has something else to love and cuddle other than the baby.

Hey you…here from FMBT to return your follow.
First of all==that is the sweetest picture EVER!
My youngest son has baby dolls. My husband was VERY against the idea…but what’s wrong with with? It’s a great way to teach them how to be sensitive and nurturing….In my opinion, more men should have owned baby dolls are children. 😉

I bought my son a boy cabbage patch doll when his sis was born. Ii really see nothing wrong with encouaging caretaking, but remember with boys caretaking is not the same as it is with girls. He may seem less gentle with the doll and you’ll need to remind him baby bro is not a doll and to be gentle with him.
