Yoga is on my list of fitness goals once again this year. Last year, I began taking a yoga class in a studio, loving the instructor and then finding out she was MOVING out of state. Eventually, I found a different yoga studio and sat in the parking lot watching people go in to class…and was too intimidated to go in by myself. I know, I am an adult. Why am I so shy about trying new things? While I am working on getting my courage up to try a new live class, I can do yoga at home with yoga videos online.

Yoga at Home.
Doing yoga at home has got its pro’s a con’s. The main pro’s to me are that I can do a yoga workout anytime of day or night – it fits my schedule. I feel comfortable doing yoga by myself at home. The con’s are that I am never sure if I am doing yoga poses and movements correctly – I need feedback from a teacher. A yoga video doesn’t offer feedback or corrections.
My goal this year is to find and attend a yoga class where I feel comfortable. I can go to a live class once a week or so, and then practice doing yoga videos the others days of the week. There are tons (as in tens of thousands) of yoga videos posted online but I did a little bit of research and found recommendations for some of the best online places to find free yoga classes.
Five places to find free yoga videos online
DoYogaWithMe.com The Beginner’s Studio has dozens of different yoga workouts available for free streaming. I like that there are a wide variety of videos available in varying lengths. Each video is user-rated. I find it useful to see which videos have the highest star ratings.
MyFreeYoga.com This website offers yoga videos for different types of yoga and advanced levels, but I am sticking to the Beginner videos for now.
Yoga Videos on YouTube:
Beginning Yoga For Dummies (wyominboy) offers 6 videos “Basic Yoga Workout For Dummies” Parts 1-6. Most of them are fairly short (10 minutes or less) so you can do more than one at a time.
Beginner Yoga Workouts by Dr. Melissa West has more than 20 videos (each around an hour in length). These look like a great place to begin practicing yoga at home. Once you’re ready to move on from the beginner stage, you’ll find intermediate and advanced level yoga workouts on Melissa West’s channel.
Yoga For Complete Beginners – 20 Minute Home Yoga Workout (Yoga with Adriene) is perfect for busy days when you don’t have a lot of time for yoga. Adriene makes it easy to relax and unwind with a brief 20 minute beginner yoga class.
#BeActiv with Viactiv Sweepstakes
My health is important to me. I like to be physically active and make sure I am getting the recommended daily allowance of calcium for bone health. 70% of adult women are calcium deficient (85% of teen girls are calcium deficient.) I try to get my daily calcium needs from food, and I take the #1 doctor-recommended calcium supplement chew: Viactiv.
Viactiv soft chews make it easy for me to make sure I am meeting my daily calcium requirements. Two delicious chews a day is all it takes. It’s a real treat to take my calcium chews in candy-like flavors: Chocolate, Caramel, Sugar-Free Chocolate. I also like the fruity new Viactiv Tropical Fruit Gummies.
Besides free yoga, another one of my favorite free ways to get active is to hike. Even in winter – even if it means a road trip to the Las Vegas desert to find a sunny nature trail. I enjoy the outdoors, especially when it is warm!
