We kicked off our #99SummerDays with Hebrew National franks. They have made regular appearances at our table ever since. These hotdogs were the star of a weiner roast we hosted for friends and family on Summer Solstice. One of my kids’ favorite things to do is roast hotdogs over the fire pit in our backyard.
True Story: One of my friends happened to bring Hebrew National hotdogs to the weiner roast . I asked her why she bought that particular brand, and she said it was her family’s favorite brand to eat. We shared a bonding moment as Hebrew National fans!
My family has had a lot of fun together this summer. Most days, the kids and I entertain ourselves at home or at the pool. But all of us had a great time on our big road trip to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks in July. We went to a rodeo and watched fireworks on July 4th in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. We saw tons of animals at Yellowstone, including a close up encounter with a grizzly bear. Of course, no one had a camera for that!
Other summer highlights include visits from grandparents and cousins who live out of state, birthday parties, boating, and attending the local fairs and events. We live in cowboy country and love to go to rodeos!
Our summer has begun to wind down a bit. School starts here in less than two weeks. But we still plan to be Weekend Warriors and sneak in a few last camping trips while the weather is warm. Labor Day is just a few weeks away, and our family will gather together for a celebration. Of course, a celebration calls for good food – so I am on the lookout for delicious new recipes to try.
Hotdogs are a given at any of our family barbeques. What foods does your family enjoy eating at Labor Day celebrations?
You don’t have to fire up the grill (or campfire) to enjoy a good hotdog. Corn Dog Muffins are the perfect quick meal or snack idea. Kids love them! And the best part is that they are ridiculously easy to make.
