I am usually not afraid to try new beauty products – but I have to admit, a derma roller is a little bit scary. By definition, a derma roller is a “device that is outfitted with dozens of what is often labeled surgical-grade needles.” Did somebody just say NEEDLES?!?! In real life, a Petunia Skincare Derma Roller does not look scary. Yes, it has 540 needles but take a look. They are tiny and the user (that’s you and me) is in control of the roller’s pressure. The needles are supposed to put tiny microscopic holes in the surface layer of your skin. These tiny “injuries” to your skin will heal and the hope is that the healed skin will look younger and healthier. Derma rolling is sort of like having a laser treatment without the laser. And for a lot less money because you can do it yourself at home.
Benefits of using a Derma Roller.
The derma roller box lists several benefits for face and body: Stimulates collage production, Reduces Wrinkles & Fine Lines, Cellulite Reduction, Helps Improve the Appearance of scars, Reduces Enlarged Pores, Tightens and Smoothes Skin.
My thoughts on using the Derma Roller.
I rolled my face at night because it can cause redness, and I did not want to walk around with a red face all day. I liked that I could control the pressure of the derma roller, and I roll fairly light. It did not hurt when I did it. The face can be rolled 1-3 times a week. I rolled once a week for about 3 weeks. It took me about 10 minutes per session. I did not notice immediate results, but I think it may take take at least several treatments to see a difference.
One of the things I like best about using it is that after rolling, any creams or serums applied to the skin are supposed to be absorbed really well. At less than $20, a derma roller costs a lot less than a laser treatment, but I have not used it enough to know if I can expect the same type of results.
Petunia Skincare Professional Hyaluronic Acid Serum
I really like a lot of things about this moisturizing serum with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C. My skin loves a daily dose of Vitamin C serum, and the Petunia Skincare formula is one of the best I have tried. I like that it is not a sticky formula and absorbs very quickly. It has a unique, fresh scent that is hard to describe (plant-y?), but I like it. The serum is a little bit thicker than other Vitamin C serums I have used in the past, which makes it easier to apply. My skin looks brighter with a more even skin tone when I use this product. I would definitely buy this again.
Petunia Skincare Revitalize Eye Serum
The Revitalize serum is nice because it is formulated especially for the delicate eye areas. Ingredients like Sea Kelp, Hyaluronic Acid, Matrixyl, Vitamin C and Ferulic Acid help me fight all the things that bug me related to my eyes: dark circles, puffiness and fine lines.
Another neat new product I have had the chance to use is Swipe deodorant wipes. The individually-wrapped, biodegradable wipes are ultra portable, which makes them perfect for travel. They are easy to carry in your purse or gym bag, too. You never know when you’ll need to freshen up. Each single use wipe is infused with a natural tea tree extract that provides protection and eliminates body odor. I know what I’ll be carrying to the pool in my beach bag this summer! Price: $2.99 for pack of three, $6.99 for pack of 10, $14.99 for pack of 25 at www.itswipes.com
Have you ever thought about using a Derma Roller on your face and/or body? Or have you actually used a derma roller? Do you use a daily Vitamin C with Hyaluronic Acid Serum? Where would you take Swipes? Let me know what you think in the comments.
