Children of the 80’s are going to be thrilled about the following announcement: Donkey Kong Country is now available on DVD for the first time ever! You’ll be able to introduce this iconic ape to the next generation.
Donkey Kong Country is a classic CGI show featuring one of the most loved video game characters of all time, Donkey Kong! The cartoon debuted back in 1981. Yes, it was that long ago! Back when kids wore slap bracelets, brightly colored plastic bracelets, and shutter glasses to look cool.
The new Donkey Kong Country DVD features 4 full length episodes (total running time 90 minutes) and is available at nationwide retailers for $9.99 and online at Amazon.com.
My family recently received a Donkey Kong Country party package that really helped get us all in the 1980s spirit. It was really fun to see my kids go crazy wearing the stuff I thought was super cool when I was a kid. After they got decked out in ’80s gear, we turned on the Donkey Kong Country DVD for a marathon.
It was probably more fun for me to watch because I grew up with Donkey Kong. He was a totally new character to my children and I am not sure they really connected with him. But they did watch the shows and were entertained for awhile. Donkey Kong Country is totally different from the shows my kids usually watch. The CGI graphics that worked just fine in the 1980s seem outdated compared the high quality of animation kids today are used to seeing. Overall, it was a nice night of nostalgia with Donkey Kong Country!

Can you say flashback. Too funny I used to love Donkey Kong and neon anything too. How about hypercolor shirts?

I remember laying on my florescent colored socks. It is so weird to see that florescent colors are making a comeback these days. I actually just bought some florescent athletic socks! haha But I just wear one color at a time. 🙂
