5 Days of Healthy Habits + Fruit and Yogurt Parfait Recipe

June 26, 2014 by Nicole

Summer is a great time for vacations, but we shouldn’t take a vacation from our healthy habits. An easy way to stay on track is to tackle one healthy habit per day during the week. I made a list of five food and fitness goals that I need to work on and put them on a daily schedule:

Monday Run Day: I have a goal to walk 10,000 steps per day. Running gets me to that goal a lot faster.

Tuesday Fruit: The average person should eat 4.5 cups of fruit and veggies per day. It’s easy for me to meet this goal when I have fruit on hand. DOLE Fruit in Jars is all-natural fruit that is ready-to-eat. There’s no cutting, peeling or mess involved.

Water Wednesday: We should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water per day to keep our bodies healthy. Today I will carry my water bottle with me everywhere and remind myself to hydrate often.

Thursday Weights: Say bye-bye to arm fat. I’m trying to tone my arms with an at-home workout that takes about 15 minutes.

Friday Elliptical: Rev up for the weekend with another cardio workout on the elliptical machine.

How are you staying on track with your food and fitness goals this summer?

DOLE Fruit and Yogurt Pairing

Delicious, healthy snacks like fruit and yogurt parfaits are a sweet reward. I was happy when DOLE offered to send me DOLE Fruit in Jars to pair with Greek yogurt. They also sent me a list of suggested recipes as part of a compensated Mom It Forward blogger program. I’m sharing one of my favorite DOLE fruit and yogurt recipes with you today.

DOLE Fruit in Jars contain 5 servings of fruit in 100% fruit juice. DOLE fruit is always picked and packed at the peak of ripeness. Try saying that last line 5 times fast!

I like to buy DOLE Fruit in Jars because they are convenient. The resealable lid means I don’t waste any fruit. DOLE Fruit in Jars come in 5 varieties:

  • Mandarin Oranges
  • Pineapple Chunks
  • Tropical Fruit
  • Sliced Peaches
  • Mixed Fruit

You can find DOLE Fruit in Jars in the canned fruit section of your grocery store. (MSRP $2.99 per jar)

One of my favorite ways to enjoy DOLE Fruit in Jars is in a fruit and yogurt parfait. There are many ways to pair different DOLE fruits with Greek yogurt. One of my favorite combinations is DOLE Fruit in Jars Sliced Peaches with plain Greek Yogurt.

DOLE Peaches and Yogurt

How to make a fruit and yogurt parfait.

I got 4 jars of the Mandarin Oranges in jars at the Grocery Outlet for $2!! I bought 4 boxes with 4 jars in it. We just love this fruit, and think it is so healthy! I like the recipe here and am going to make it!

Wow that is a GREAT deal on the fruit in jars. My kids love the mandarin oranges, too. Even though the jars don’t have to be refrigerated before you open them, I put ours in so they will be cold (when it’s summertime). The kids will snack on those all by themselves.

I see that the post says that the jars are $2.99 a jar. Mine came out to .50 cents a jar. I am stoked over this deal!!
