I love the review and I think that the prize is awesome. However, when so many blogs join together and require so many different ways to enter (and yes, I know you don’t have to do everything, but you want to do as many as possible to have a good chance at winning) all the emails, facebook pages, pinterest images, etc. start to run together. Instead of really being able to pay attention to the blogs you want to follow the most, they get lost in a sea of ones you are only mildly interested in. Not to mention the sheer amount of time it takes to do all these entries, with only a very small shot at winning the prize. I really much prefer smaller prizes with less entries for each. I think it’s just more fair to everyone all the way around – blogs and entrants.

I totally agree with you on that, Jill. I don’t often sign up for these big group giveaways, but like to make sure that when I do the prize has a high value. The Blendtec is valued at $500+ and I sure would love to be able to give one away to my loyal readers – but the only way I can do that is by teaming up with other bloggers. Although I know the chances of winning get slimmer the more bloggers are involved. That is just how the giveaway trends seem to be flowing these days.
Jill, I know you are a loyal reader here at Mom Always Finds Out, and definitely try to respect you and all my other readers by not doing too many of these group giveaways. But sometimes I do join in when I feel they can add value to my blog, and this was one of those times. It’s such a big prize that I thought it would be worth sharing with everyone.
Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and I hope you will be back to enter my other giveaways – I do have many that are just appearing on my blog, although not for such a huge prize as the Blendtec. Maybe one day I’ll be in the big leagues with big prizes! 🙂 -Nicole

You’re so sweet, Nicole! I know you always try to do the best for your readers – that’s why I’m here, because I really believe that about you! The trend toward these big giveaways, though is just not really the direction I’d like to see my favorite blogs go. To me, the thrill of winning and getting that winning email is just as great if it is a big prize or a smaller one. I consider it a gift that a blogger puts all their time and effort behind reviewing a product, posting the giveaway, filtering the entries to make sure everyone was honest, emailing the winner, waiting for the return email, emailing the sponsor – whew! That is a ton of work and I am thankful so many bloggers like you go to the time and effort to do that for us. But so many of us these days talk about how little extra time we have that to then enter these big giveaways all the time makes it become more like work than fun. A small giveaway with a few entries can be done in one’s leisure time and there’s the excitement of “ooooo…. maybe I’ll win. ” A big giveaway, can take over an hour to enter and it can make you feel kind of stressed with “oooo… I gotta get this done so I can make dinner or pick up the kids, or clean the house…” then you’re left with the sense of “I’ll never win THAT” – it’s like entering the lottery – who REALLY expects to win? I guess I’m an old fuddy-duddy and just like to keep things fun and simple. I don’t assume that everyone would agree with me, nor do I think everyone necessarily should if they don’t feel the same way. I just know if no one says anything, then nothing is ever considered one way or another. Just my 2 cents. Please understand it is truly only my opinion and NOT in any way a criticism. Like I said before, I’m thankful for all the trouble you go through to do things like this for us.

Thank you, Jill, I am so glad we both understand each other and I appreciate all your kind words. I know what you mean on giveaways – I don’t even bother with the big ones anymore. They do take up so much time and then there are like 500,000 other entries, so why bother. Plus I have found that I like to “Like” people on Facebook that I really care about seeing – not just random people on a Rafflecopter form.
It’s a hard thing to deal with and this exact giveaway problem is a hot topic in bloggers forums. People have polar opposite opinions. Some bloggers love, some bloggers do not. But now we all have the pressure to jump on the bandwagon.
I can promise you that you will not see me join in a group giveaway where 100 bloggers are going in together to give away a $25 prize. That is ridiculous. 🙂 Thanks again for chatting with me about this! I did not take anything as a criticism and I am so glad you keep in touch and tell me how you feel. I am sure you are not alone, but most people don’t take the time to tell me. I’m glad you do! Have a great weekend! -Nicole
