My Favorite Ways To Use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda ~ Getting Ready For the Holidays!

November 5, 2012 by Nicole

I am amazed at the hundreds of ways Arm & Hammer Baking Soda can be used around the house. If you have only used your baking soda box as an odor absorber in the back of the refrigerator, you’ll want to take notes! Baking soda is inexpensive, environmentally friendly and safe for use on just about any surface. The Arm & Hammer Baking Soda Shaker (pictured above, left)  makes it easy to sprinkle baking soda everywhere I need a bit of cleaning action around the house.

I have a list of my favorite ways Arm & Hammer Baking Soda helps me get ready for the holidays that I want to share with you. It’s not just about cleaning the house, either! There are some at-home spa treatment ideas and all-natural personal hygiene ideas for everyone.

Food Safe Surface Cleaner

I never like to spray chemicals in areas where my family prepares and eats food, so I use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda as a natural, food safe cleaner. How to Clean: Simple sprinkle a little bit of baking soda on kitchen surfaces and wipe down with a wet washcloth. Baking soda doesn’t scratch surfaces, so it’s great for using on stainless steel sinks, countertops, range/ovens and microwaves. It also works well to clean pots and pans.

Wash Fruits & Vegetables

Safely and effectively get rid of dirt and residue by washing and rinsing fruits and vegetables with aprinkle of Arm & Hammer baking soda.

Deodorizing the Trash Can

A little sprinkle of Arm & Hammer baking soda into the bottom of my kitchen and bathroom waste baskets helps to keep them fresh. For times when I want to do a deeper clean, I mix 1 cup of baking soda per gallon of water, scrub and rinse.

Natural Deodorant

Did you know a simple dusting of Arm & Hammer baking soda under your armpits will keep them odor free? I use baking soda in my natural homemade deodorant recipe and recommend it to everyone. I rely on Arm & Hammer baking soda every single day. I know it really works!

Baking Soda Facial

Gently exfoliate your skin with a natural at-home spa treatment using Arm & Hammer baking soda. Mix 3 parts baking soda to one part water and rub into skin using circular motions. Enjoy smooth and radiant skin! This recipe is gentle enough to use every day.

Relaxing Bath Tub Soak

You know the large size resealable bag of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda? I keep one of those handy in my bathroom cabinets for one of my favorite activities: a relaxing bath tub soak. No recipe is required with this one! Just add about a 1/2 cup of baking soda to your bath water and you are set for a refreshing soak. It’s a great way to pamper yourself after all your hard work preparing for holiday festivities!

I love having one natural product that seems to be able to do it all. A $1 box of Arm & Hammer baking soda can eliminate the need for a lot of different household cleaning products. My new favorite product is the Arm & Hammer Soda Shaker bottle because it makes it so convenient to use baking soda as a cleaner. It will really help me keep my house sparkling fresh and ready to party with our holiday guests this year.

What are your favorite ways to use Arm & Hammer Baking Soda? Please share your ideas with us in the comments section.

Thank you for all the great tips! I currently use all green, chemical-free cleaning products but I’m interested in trying out some homemade recipes. I love that something as simple as baking soda can be so versatile.
