I thought I would share one of my favorite holiday tech traditions with you. Tracking Santa Claus! A few years ago, my family started following Santa’s Christmas Eve journey with NORAD’s Santa tracking website. Now there are Santa tracker apps that make it easier than ever to track Santa from your mobile devices. Many of the apps even include fun Christmas-themed games to keep the kids entertained. My kids LOVE to use their tablet to track Santa. This year, we will be trying the new Google Santa Tracker app.
Start a high tech Christmas tracking tradition at your house this year. Download one (or all) of these 5 Santa Tracker Apps in time for Christmas Eve!
Google Santa Tracker (Android)
Santa and the elves’ are back for 2014 with new games, a redesigned online Santa tracker, updates for Chromecast and Android Wear integration. Play games with elves in jetpacks, rolling gumballs, and sleighs powered by rockets. Once the 24th arrives, follow Santa in his journey around the world. This app doesn’t do much until 2AM on Christmas Eve, when it comes to life so users can track Santa’s progress throughout the world on Christmas Eve.
NORAD Tracks Santa (Android) (iTunes) (Windows)
The NORAD Tracks Santa App is the official mobile app of the NORAD Tracks Santa program. Watch the days countdown to Santa’s flight, follow Santa’s progress on December 24, play “Thin Ice” to help Santa’s elves deliver presents, and learn about NORAD and its mission. Please note that the countdown in the app is NOT a countdown to December 25. The NORAD Santa Tracker App counts down to when the app begins tracking Santa’s flight on Christmas Eve.
Santa Tracker 2014 Free with *in-app purchases* (Android) (iTunes)
Track Santa around the world as he prepares for the big day! Also contains an Advent Calendar which shows lots of Christmas sightings of Santa. See what Father Christmas is up to, is he working in the toy factory? Going for a ride or just having a cup of Tea?
On Christmas Eve he will travel the world delivering in every time zone from New Zealand to San Fransisco just after the kids have fallen asleep.
Sometimes he goes home to the North Pole but mostly he is working hard.
The $1.99 paid version of this app on iTunes by Onteca will keep kids entertained with lots of fun features including a new advent calendar. It’s like 7 apps in one!
The Santa Claus Tracker (Android) (iTunes)
The Santa Claus Tracker App is a fun app for your kids. They can see Santa hop across the world, get a letter from Santa (for parents, through our external site), and make Santa laugh. The app uses your GPS to show where you are and show Santa hopping around the map. Once there is 24 hours or less until Christmas, the map zooms in closer and closer to your location every hour until your child will see Santa hopping around their neighborhood. Santa hops around to Christmas Wishes and to see whether someone is naughty or nice.
Elves at The North Pole Command Center make sure Santa keeps up with the latest technology. The North Pole Command Center Santa tracker app costs around $2 and is available across most devices (purchase on iTunes, Google Play, Amazon and Windows store) and features a high tech Santa Tracker, Santa’s blog and even a way for you to contact Santa with a message!
