How to Make an Easter Basket out of Peeps Boxes

We are all PEEPS Easter Candy fans at my house. The bunny shapes, chick shapes, egg shapes…pink, yellow, lavender, orange, green, blue… we aren’t picky, we love all PEEPS marshmallows equally.

I recently discovered I have a thing for the chocolate-dipped chocolate mousse PEEPS. They are soooo good. But please don’t tell my kids how good they are – I want the chocolate mousse ones all for myself! 

I had to make this Peeps Easter basket fast, otherwise there wouldn’t have been enough Peeps left for me to use. My kids could not wait to eat them!

I was afraid if I looked away for a minute, they were going to pick my PEEPS off one by one. I eventually had to give in and let them have an entire box so they would let me make the Easter basket in peace.

How to make your own Easter basket out of PEEPS Easter candy boxes.

These are completely edible Easter baskets (well, not counting the packaging – please don’t eat the wrappers!)

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • 4 boxes of PEEPS® Marshmallow Chicks (10-count)
  • Cardboard (I used an empty cereal box)
  • Scissors
  • Pencil
  • Clear tape
  • Length of Ribbon (for the basket handle) or see how to make a Jelly Bean necklace handle

Directions:

Step One: Arrange the PEEPS® boxes in a square basket shape (as shown in photo below.) Use a hot glue gun to apply hot glue along the sides of each box where necessary to glue boxes securely together in the square basket shape.

Step Two: Use a pencil to trace the outline of the square basket shape onto a thin piece of cardboard. Cut out the square shape. This will be the bottom (base) of the basket.

Step Three: Flip the PEEPS® boxes upside down and use the hot glue gun to attach the cardboard square as the bottom of the basket.

Step Four: Use clear tape to attach a length of ribbon from one side of the basket to the other, to form the handle. OR use tape to attach the Jelly Bean necklace as a handle.

Once your Easter basket’s handle is attached, the Easter basket is ready to fill with your favorite PEEPS Easter treats and surprises!

Create this Easter basket with four boxes of PEEPS marshmallows. Simple, cute, and fun plus almost entirely edible Easter craft!

    Wow, I didnt realize Peeps made anything other than sugar bunnies! They have lots of cute stuff on their site. I especially love the “PEEPS GIANT SHAGGY BUNNY.” It’s a giant bunny with two little baby bunnies. They are super cute and it would be a great Easter gift for my daughter!
