French Dessert Recipes (inspired by Julia Child)

I love Julia Child's infamous cooking advice: Learn how to cook -- try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless and above all have fun. Cooking is not a skill that comes naturally to me. I envy those who can somehow whip up a gourmet meal out of thin air, without even using a recipe or measuring cup! Learning to cook is a lifelong goal of mine and Julia Child's advice reminds me to keep going, despite all my (many) kitchen … [Read more...]

Camp Craft Ideas & Camping Party Decor: Make (fake) Mini Campfires

This mini campfire craft is fun to make with a variety of natural materials like sticks and rocks. Just add a few bits of colored crepe paper for the flames. We used our old, scratched up CDs as the campfire base. If you really want to make it realistic-looking, set a flameless tea candle in the middle. Your campfire will flicker and glow. Go ahead, use the Nokia Lumia 2520 outside. Sunlight won’t stop you from seeing the screen!

I spend a lot of time outdoors, especially in the summer. My kids love to play in the yard and at the park, and my youngest ones still need constant supervision.  It's all good until I need to get my online work done. I don't know if you have ever tried to see your computer screen while the sun shines on it, but it used to be impossible for me. The colors fade out and the screen is totally unreadable from any angle. Then I got the Nokia Lumia … [Read more...]

How to make freckled Strawberry Lemonade: … [Read more...]

How To Plant a Butterfly Garden

Early in the summer, we went hiking on our Colorado road trip. My kids noticed a beautiful black, white and purple butterfly on one of the trails. We had never seen a butterfly like that before - and it captured the kids' attention for about 15 minutes before flying away. Everyone wished we had butterflies like that around our house. That little Colorado butterfly is what inspired us to plant a butterfly garden. Mom Always Finds Out is part of … [Read more...]
